where is the best place to shop for land?

i want to buy about 5-7 acres to build a eco or green home on. i prefer rocky land or at least some hillside. i live in dfw and am open to buy from sheveport to abilene east-west and austin to okc south north. i don’t even know where to begin to look w/o paying a agent.

    The western states wyoming utah and idaho see about ranch real estate its gorgeous there check out the more.
