Eel. (Japan again highlights its eco-friendly side?)?

Friday, March 28th, 2008
casapulla2001 asked:

Yahoo/AP: Inventor Kazuhiko Minawa said it took him more than a month to devise a system that would effectively harness eel power. “If we could gather all electric eels from all around the world, we would be able to light up an unimaginably giant Christmas tree,” Minawa told Reuters Television. Eels are widely eaten in Japan, especially in the summer, when their vitamin-rich flesh is seen as a way to regain stamina sapped by the heat. The tree, which will stay illuminated until December 25, is proving a popular attraction, drawing tourists from all over the country. “I would love to have an eel like this at home. This is very nature-friendly,” said visitor Harumi Yayoi.

They still harvest whales there, eh?

Where can I buy interlocking foam/rubber flooring around Montreal, Qc locally? (ie for home gym floor)?

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008
rovellm81 asked:

I am looking to purchase interlocking foam or rubber flooring for a home gym. I am based in Montreal, Quebec and I need to find a vendor that is local to this area from whom I can buy. I would consider going as far as Ottawa to the west and Quebec City to the north but would prefer not buying from the USA due to having to pay additional fees (duty at border, etc).

Some examples of the product or similar products that I am interested in:

http://www.wondermat.com
http://www.rubbercal.com/eco_sport_1_inc…
http://www.softnsafefloors.com/…

The specs are pretty simple. I am looking for something that will cover an area of 15 feet by 13 feet. It needs to be durable, shock absorbent as the type of gym I will be doing on it is intense aerobics and plyometrics (lots of jumping around, need to protect my joints/back as current flooring is cement). Thanks!

why is Al Gore such a hypocrite?

Al lives in a house that uses enough energy in 1 month to power the average house in Nashville for 1 year. yet Bush lives in a model eco-friendly home that uses geothermal heat pumps, water recycling, and other state of the art environmental home features. so why doesn’t Al confess his addiction to energy and humble down? http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/house.asp

Environmentally Friendly Land Development Financing?

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008
purplefuzzysugar asked:

Hope this is the right place to ask. Say someone owned 20 acres of land, including a wetlands bordering the property. And say they wanted to develop this land using eco-friendly development programs. Geodesic dome homes. Geothermal energy resources in the homes and Artesian well water supply.
Does anyone know how to get the best financing for such a project, (not knowing where to start but with just a dream), as a woman? Special programs, financing, etc…The applicant even has native (Indian) blood. A 1/4 from each of two tribes. But, as she says, if it’s there at a fraction of the cost it’s not really worth speaking about. lol Unless it helps her environmental project. ;)
Constructive advice appreciated. The person who put me up to this can’t afford to keep the land as is, but doesn’t want to sell out to the usual McHouses developers because she loves the property she grew up on. (Any advice on how to keep it other than development is more than welcome). Thank you for reading

If the Messenger does not agree with his own Message is he really not responsible for it?

Sunday, March 16th, 2008
Stone K asked:

This is in regards to Al Gore and all his “inconvenient truths”…

I asked a question about how people felt about Al’s call for more energy conservation from Americans and yet he uses 20 times more energy in his one home in one month than the average family uses in a whole year.

and one response I got was basically saying “It’s the message not the messenger.” I have looked at other questions and I see same response. “message not the messenger”

Now that does not make sense to me… When that Haggard guy was caught having a homosexual affair with a man people went ape over the fact that he was a hypocrite, and time and again his name is splashed across yahoo answers to show how hypocritical the right wingers are.

And yet here is a man who “lives a carbon neutral lifestyle, is Eco friendly and studies the environment” and yet he uses more energy than most people in the country, he rides around in a limo and has a personal jet.

When is it time to admit he is a Hypocrite?
I am sorry, I posted this in politcs as well but I am not getting anyone who is willing to back Gore in any way (save one person).

I really want to know what people who belive in Gore’s message think when then know things like this about the man.
http://www.tennesseepolicy.org/main/article.php?article_id=367 - here is the link to the story so people dont think I am makeing up the numbers.

Although I think I said 20 times the monthly use of enery, I ment 2 times.
*sigh* still only one person who was willing to step up and try to be on Gore’s side…

Bob: If global warming is man made please explain why in the 70’s “Experts” were talking about Global cooling?

Please explain why 65 million years ago the planet was much hotter and wetter than it is today… the place I live used to be under water and I can show you the geological evidence proveing it…

as for 99% of scientists beliveing global wrming is real… I know that number is way off base right from the get go. There is a lot of grant money out there, do you go with the idea that gets you that money or the one that doesn’t? And the scientists that do not belive Global warming is entirely man made are shouted down.

http://www.delmarvanow.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070222/NEWS01/70222005/1002 - here is an example… Because his views differ from the Gov.’s? Name one Gov who has a degree in climatology…

I’m all for reusing and recycling, but all of this “go green” and “sustainability” is going too far. I mean there’s “eco friendly” paint, carpet, hybrid cars, long life lightbulbs, etc. It’s nuts! I shouldn’t have to be forced to go green. It should be my choice. The Earth has been here for a billion years. It will survive. Your thoughts?? No smart asses, please!
