I’m not gonna type up all the specs (click the link, and look at them yourselves), but here are a few:

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
Screen: 15.4″, Xbrite-ECO technology
Proccesor: 1.74 GHz Intel Core Duo Processor T2450
Cache: L2: 2MB
System Bus: 533 MHz.
RAM: 1GB
Hard Drive: 120 GB (5400 RPM)
Graphics/Video Card: Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950
Price: $649.99 (after $100 rebate)

#2:
(Customized Dell Vostro 1500)

Processor: Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor T7700 (1.66GHz,2MB L2 Cache,800MHz FSB)
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate
Screen: 15.4″ Widescreen XGA display with TrueLifeTM
Graphics Card: Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
RAM: 2 GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667 MHz
Hard Drive: 120 GB at 5400 RPM
Writes DVD’s and CD’s
Battery: 9-cell 85WHr Li-Ion Battery (Average life 5-8 hours)
Width: 14.2″
Height:1.65″
Depth:10.59″
Weight: 6.33 lbs
Built-in 2.0 Megapixel Webcam
Price: $879.99
I know both of them don’t have top of the line hard drives, but I’m not concerned about that. For $100, I can get a 500GB (7200RPM) external hard drive. Also, both of them have integrated/shared video memory. I could upgrade the Dell to a 256MB dedicated memory, but it will cost me another $199. But I’m not really worried about the graphics card that much. I’m not much into PC gaming — I prefer to play on a console.

At the moment, I’m kinda leaning toward the Vostro, but the $200 price difference is what’s making this a tough decision.

Ecological home of Sanjay and Pratibha Singh, Bangalore

Thursday, December 20th, 2007
zenrainman asked:

The artist couple Pratibha and Sanjay Singh have a nice earth based ecological home along with a studio for Sanjay as part of the home. The whole house is of earth excavated from the site. There is no plastering or painting for the building. The house is naturally lit and naturally ventilated with no fan or air conditioning. Sanjay is an avid gardener and we josh about his North Indian garden. Harvested rain supplies the garden water and adds to the house hold use. Grey water from the kitchen is reused for the garden.
One of my dream is to go take a looooong afternoon nap in the peace and quite of this beautiful home designed by the Architect Chitra Vishwanath (seen in the silent movie with the artist Sanjay Singh). Note also the paintings by the artist couple, stunning an in tune with the earth tones of the house.

Questions about alternative fuels ?

Monday, December 17th, 2007
joe sniffy asked:

Assuming it will take 10 years for any new drilling to reach the pump… How long will it take for alternate fuels to reach the pump? Or how are we going to convert the millions of cars on the road now to use other fuels? Will this cost us more money to convert the current gas guzzlers to something more eco friendly? I agree we need to find other methods to power our vehicle and homes, but to say no new drilling because it will take years to reach the end user???? I am seriously inquiring about an estimate on how long it will take for alternative fuels to reach my vehicle. Are we really going to continue to send money over seas while we scramble for new energy sources?

Mary Kay, Avon.any companies like these that are Natural?

Sunday, December 16th, 2007
Janice L asked:

I have been tossing around the idea of a home business, and a friend had suggested being a Mary Kay or Avon rep. Problem is, I don’t really like those products. When chosing my own products, I choose more eco-friendly, natural products.

Is there a company out there that uses reps, but has more natural or organic products?

Is a hybrid as “green” as you go or can you do better?

Sunday, December 9th, 2007
stripes385 asked:

Okay we’ve all heard about the hybrid car craze… probably even solar panels or geo-thermal heating, but what really makes a difference? Is my one little car really going to be my most cost effective effort to make a difference? The energystar website says that your home leaks as many harmful emissions as 300 cars! Properly sealing and insulating your attic can reduce heating and cooling costs by up to 40%. There are new companies now like Carolina’s Eco Unit (www.eco-unit.org), based out of Charlotte, NC, who offer services to come in and retro fit existing homes with energystar features. Now since my attic is not somewhere I really care to venture, calling them was my obvious first choice, and I have been truely amazed. The results were so impressive, not only my savings, but comfort, that I’m telling everyone, posting this blog, even going to local trade shows to try to spread green awareness and show people that you can make a huge difference even at home.
